3 Ways to Refresh Your Beauty Routine

It's that time of year: We've been soaking up the sun, basking in the outdoors and squeezing as much out of life as we possibly can. Vacations, happy hours, bike rides and beach days are all good and well—but have you noticed them wreaking havoc on your normal beauty routine?

With fall comes the chance to reset, to renew. Why not include your beauty routine in that? Here are three ways to bring continuity and joy back to skincare and makeup.

3 Ways to Refresh Your Beauty Routine

Step 1: Take an hour (or two) to go through your cabinets, makeup bag, drawers and more. A refresh that'll stick starts with clearing out the old. The melted lipstick you haven't used in 8 months? Toss it. That eye serum you leave sitting on the shelf but just can't get yourself to apply? Give it away. Ridding your beauty routine of clutter (literally) will help clear a space for new excitement around a ritual. Plus, you'll be happy with yourself because everything will be organized!

Step 2: Spend time reconnecting with your skin. When was the last time you actually thought about what your skin needed instead of moving through a routine on auto-pilot (or just ignoring a routine and throwing whatever was within reach onto your skin)? So many things impact what our skin feels like: weather, stress, food, caffeine, travel. It's up to us to listen to our skin and our body and figure out what it needs. Take a few minutes to re-evaluate if your products are working, if you need to try something new (like drinking hot lemon water every morning to help detox!) and what your skin is asking you for.

Step 3: Try something new! Once you've given your skin a little time to tell you what it wants, think about trying something new. Do you need an oil cleanser to get impurities out of your pores? Is a heavier moisturizer or balm calling to you? Do you see a little summer sun damage that needs brightening? Give yourself the chance to expand with some of our travel kits or our makeup colors. It's the time to renew and this is a great way to do it!
