THE BEST NATURAL LIP BALMS TO HYDRATE YOUR LIPS THIS WINTER
So, we have somewhat conquered our dry skin problems; be it face, feet, body etc... but wait! Have we forgotten about one of our most important (and standout) features? Our lips! Winter drama has them feeling parched, lonely and abandoned—and lips need love and TLC too, ya know! If there’s one thing that most ladies have in common, it seems to be this: We’re always on the hunt for the perfect lip balm. One that’s rich in emollients, that keeps our lips smooth and protected. Oh, and a little bit of colour never hurt nobody! Well, if you're feeling generous and looking to treat them well, read on for a couple of the best natural lip balms that soothe, protect and moisturize dry, cracked and "winter-kissed" lips.
Containing certified organic herbs, flowers and fruits, this refreshing lip balm is chock-full of natural vitamins and rejuvenating substances. From rosemary, lemon balm and pure peppermint essential oil, this balm will effectively penetrate, protect and rejuvenate dry lips. Not to mention it feels so lovely and even tingles on the lips, due to the peppermint oil in it. I apply this throughout the day, and at night before bedtime. It does an awesome job making my lips look and feel super smooth and moisturized.
A Tinted Lip Conditioner with no color, this balm hydrates with organic ingredients and is perfect for stashing in your purse or at your desk for on-the-go hydration. This balm is an easy-to-use stick lip balm comprised of awesome organic ingredients which heal and protect your lips beautifully! Organic oils such as sunflower, sesame seed, castor seed and avocado oil—and more awesome ingredients such as:
Beeswax, Candelilla Wax, Shea Butter Fruit, Orange Fruit Oil, Jasmine Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Oil, Tocopherol, and Grape Seed Oil.
One of my favourite things about this balm is that it's not slippery, sticky or overly greasy. It's literally the perfect balm to put on before a lipstick, because it properly moisturizes your lips without any slickness. It's like an amazing moisturizing lip primer - however, it does tone down lip colour a bit if you put it on before the lipstick. But that doesn't bother me, cus I've now got some smooth, kissable lips! Ooh la la!
And that's all you guys! So simple. Remember one little important tip though, it is definitely important to prep your lips too before you use a balm or any other lip treatment. I like to use a lip scrub, or even make my own! I do love ILIA Beauty's Balmy Nights though for a nice little lip exfoliation! This exfoliator has some amazing organic ingredients! Tiny volcanic stone powder (yes volcanic—pretty cool, eh?) granules gently exfoliate your lips, all while the other organic ingredients hydrate and moisturize to reveal soft lips.
Interested in the DIY lip scrub? I got this super easy, awesome Coconut Sugar lip scrub recipe from Kula Mama's awesome website! All you need is:
- ½ tsp honey (any of these ingredients can be organic, raw, whatever you have or prefer!)
- ½ teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon coconut sugar (regular sugar will work too)
- Optional: 1 drop peppermint essential oil for a little zing! (I love this idea!)
Then all you have to do is combine all the yummy ingredients (if you haven't eaten them all, haha) in a small cup and stir them to combine. Using your finger, or a little mini spatula (I have one from an old mask that I've kept) scoop a bit of the scrub and rub it on your lips. Use circular motion and scrub for 2 plus minutes to make sure you get all the dead skin off your lips. Rinse off with water and apply your favourite balm (or the ones mentioned above) to moisturize if needed. Lovely!
